ECC's Fall 2022 commencement ceremonies set for Dec. 17

Elgin Community College will recognize the fall Class of 2022 with in-person commencement ceremonies on Saturday, Dec. 17.

The commencement will be presented as two ceremonies: University Transfer degrees at 10 a.m. and Career and Technical programs at 2 p.m. in the Building J Events Center at the college's Spartan Drive Campus, 1700 Spartan Drive in Elgin.

Students are assigned to the graduation ceremony based on the credentials earned. Both ceremonies will stream live at youtube.com/ElginSpartans.

The 10 a.m. University Transfer ceremony will recognize candidates for the associate in arts, associate in science, associate in fine arts-visual art emphasis, associate in fine arts-music performance emphasis, associate in engineering science, and associate in liberal studies) with student speaker Julio C. Hernandez of Carpentersville.

The 2 p.m. Career and Technical programs ceremony will recognize candidates for the associate of applied science degrees, vocational specialist certificates, and basic vocational specialist certificates with student speaker Tiffany A. Jensen of Elgin.

ECC President David Sam will deliver the commencement address for both ceremonies. ECC board chair Jennifer Rakow, and Parul Raval, professor of education and 2022 Outstanding Full-Time Faculty Member award winner, will also provide remarks.

Prior to the commencement ceremonies, on Friday, Dec. 9, ECC will recognize 27 Fire Academy students who have completed the basic operations firefighter program at 6 p.m. This is the largest BOF class in the program's six-year history.
