Bikers recovering from Elburn pileup
Three bikers injured in a double-fatal pileup Saturday near Elburn remained hospitalized in varying conditions Wednesday.
Jerome L. Bozonelos, 51, of Aurora, was listed in critical condition at Advocate Good-Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove, a hospital spokeswoman said. Norman Turner, 49, of North Aurora, and Mike D. Leather, 34, of Lisle, were listed in fair and good condition, respectively, at Delnor Hospital in Geneva.
Three other injured motorists and passengers were treated and released: Ryan M. Anderson, 32, of Elburn; Alia N. Bernard, 24, of Aurora; and Nichole Bushman, 26, of Lisle, hospital officials said.
In all, 14 people were involved in the nine-vehicle crash on Route 47 that killed St. Charles residents Wade and Denise Thomas, ages 44 and 45, police said.
The Thomases died about 8:40 a.m. when a car crash in the oncoming lane, near Smith Road, sent a vehicle into the path of a group of motorcycle enthusiasts taking a day trip to Wisconsin.
Bernard was ticketed for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident, and police have said additional charges are not expected at this time. She could not be reached for comment.
Funeral arrangements for the Thomases are pending.
