Tsukida stays alive at state

Streamwood's Yuto Tsukida stayed alive at the IHSA state tennis tournament on Thursday but he had to come back from a first-round loss to do so.

Tsukida lost his first-round match to Abvi Singh of Neuqua Valley 6-1, 6-4 before coming back to win three straight matches in the consolation bracket.

All other Fox Valley area players were eliminated from further competition on Thursday.

In singles play, Chris Federighi defeated Joey Leto of Downers Grove South 6-4, 6-3 in the first round but then Federighi lost two straight.

In doubles action, the Larkin doubles teams of Jesse Perez-Casey Siripanya and Selwyn Hansana-Eddie Senesombath each lost their first round matches before coming back to earn a win, but then each team was eliminated.

The Crystal Lake South team of Cam Laktash-Jared Fabaro defeated Matt Buck-John Schroeder of Mount Carmel 6-3, 6-1 in the first round but then lost two straight. The CL South team of Kenny Dolan-Scott Subak lost in the first round before coming back to win a match against Dylon Busse-Luke Stover of Sterling Newman. Dolan-Subak then lost and were eliminated.
