Fourth swine flu case confirmed in McHenry County

McHenry County has reported its fourth confirmed case of the H1N1 virus, officials said today.

"I'm glad that there's a happy ending on that; it's good to know that he's at least on the road to recovery," she said.

This case marks the third time the disease has infected someone under the age of 18, Quackenbush said.

The first case involved a 40-year-old man from McHenry.

Since then, a 13-year-old McHenry boy and a 6-year-old Algonquin girl have also been infected.

The heath department's Web site says a 6-year-old Lake in the Hills boy was the latest person to catch the disease, but that information is incorrect, Quackenbush said.

There are now 896 confirmed cases statewide, according to the Illinois Department of Public Health's Web site.

When it comes to prevention, Quackenbush reminds people to wash their hands and to stay home from work if they feel ill.
