Carmel clinches tie for first in ESCC
Carmel Catholic's girls soccer team needed a victory over St. Viator on Wednesday to earn a share of the East Suburban Catholic Conference championship.
Kassidy Brown and Lauren Lehman made sure the Corsairs got it.
Brown and Lehman each scored twice as Carmel won 5-1 on its home field. Brown also had an assist, while Alex Hauser collected a goal and an assist.
Carmel (16-3) finished 9-1 in the ESCC to clinch a tie for first place with Benet Academy.
Corsairs keeper Maddie Allen made 8 saves.
Mundelein 9, Round Lake 0: Ashley Begrowicz had a hat trick and Kim Carroll registered 2 goals and 3 assists for the host Mustangs in the North Suburban Conference crossover.
Mundelein (11-8-2) also got 2 goals from Kelsey Hiegel and 1 apiece from Abbey Ekstrom and Gabby Will. Lisie Garza collected 3 assists, while Molly Rohan and Ekstrom also assisted on goals.
Nikki Allen notched the shutout in goal.
Libertyville 4, Lakes 0: Chele McCracken scored a pair of first-half goals for the host Wildcats in the North Suburban crossover, which was shortened by 20 minutes due to lightning.
Haley Walton and Jess Faber also scored, as Libertyville improved to 6-8-1. Katie Swift tallied an assist.
