Thursday's Fox Valley roundup

T.J. Madzy led a 14-hit attack for St. Edward Thursday as the Green Wave downed St. Francis 11-1 in Suburban Catholic Conference baseball action.

Madzy was 3-for-3 with 2 doubles and an RBI for the Wave (15-10, 8-4). Anthony Bauer (2B, 2 RBI), Riley Coleman (2 RBI) and Julian Ramirez (2B, RBI) each added 2 hits. Jon Godfrey pitched a 3-hitter for the win.

St. Charles North 11, Elgin 1: Lee Jackson and Dan Schmerber each had doubles for Elgin (1-24, 1-19) in this Upstate Eight loss. Tom Roth was the losing pitcher.

Streamwood 9, Lake Park 8: Ryan Kiesel had the game-winning hit in the bottom of the seventh as the Sabres (15-10-2, 13-7) prevailed in the Upstate Eight. Tim Cohen had a 2-run home run for Streamwood and Josh Harris was the winning pitcher.

Burlington Central 7, Hampshire 5: Burlington Central scored on Tyler Wilkening's squeeze bunt in the eighth inning to pull out this Big Northern East win. Wilkening also had a grand slam home run in the game. Nick Hahn was the winning pitcher for the Rockets (17-6, 9-0).

Westminster Christian 13, Aurora Christian 4: Chad Schroy had a home run and 6 RBI to lead the Warriors (25-7, 13-3) to a Private School League win. Ryan Perez was the winning pitcher.

South Elgin 14, St. Charles East 8: DJ Kogut was 4-for-4 and a double, triple and 2 RBI to lead South Elgin (14-10-1, 11-7-1) to an Upstate Eight win. Brett Huisman was the winning pitcher.

Grayslake Central 4, Huntley 3: Zach Liebman (7-1) suffered his first loss of the season as Huntley (23-5-1, 9-2) fell in the Fox Valley Conference Fox Division. Nathan Soperna and Jordan Contrerras each had 2 hits for Huntley.

McHenry 8, Dundee-Crown 1: Chris Leifel and Willy Larsen each had doubles for the Chargers (5-19-1, 2-9) in this FVC Valley loss. Bill Peterson was the losing pitcher.
