DuPage County briefs

Chicago officer convicted:

A Chicago police officer has been found guilty of battery against a Naperville teenager. Daniel A. Reschke, 46, was sentenced to 12 months court supervision and ordered to perform 40 hours of community service after a Thursday bench trial. He also is required to pay $240 in court fines and fees within 10 months, according to court records. The conviction stems from a fight last May between Reschke and a 15-year-old Naperville boy who was walking past Reschke's friend's house in the 2300 block of Feldott Lane. Police at the time said the boy had marks on his neck and shoulder, but was otherwise uninjured. Reschke was suspended from the Chicago Police Department at the time of his arrest, but attempts to determine whether he remained on the job were unsuccessful Monday as police officials there did not return several calls.

Sex offender pleads guilty:

A 26-year-old man and convicted sex offender has pleaded guilty to failing to notify authorities of his move to Naperville last year. Kris Lalik was charged nearly a year ago, but agreed last week to two years of probation and 30 days in jail in exchange for a guilty plea, a spokesman for DuPage County State's Attorney Joseph Birkett said. Lalik has until Sept. 11 to turn himself in for the jail sentence, the spokesman said. He was credited for one day already served in custody. According to the state's sex offender tracking Web site, Lalik now resides in Aurora. He originally was convicted in Cook County of enticing a 15-year-old to remove their clothes, according to the state's Web site.
