Last Fling headliner named:
The Naperville Jaycees have announced another headliner for the Last Fling festival over Labor Day weekend. Country music artist Jason Aldean will perform at 8 p.m. Sept. 5 at the Rotary Hill main stage. The multiplatinum country rocker recently took the top spot on the charts with his smash hit "She's Country" from his new album "Wide Open." Country musician Colt Ford will open the night with a performance at 6 p.m.
Lisle plans Ogden corridor
Lisle will sponsor a workshop to discuss the proposed Ogden Avenue Corridor Plan at 7 p.m. May 7 in the training room of the Lisle Police Department, 5040 Lincoln Ave. During the 90-minute session, village staff members will provide an introduction and overview of the effort and attendees will have the opportunity to provide input that will be used in drafting the plan.
Police honor fallen colleagues:
Area police will pay tribute to fallen officers in the annual Peace Officers' Memorial Observance. The Naperville Police Department, DuPage County Chiefs of Police and the Naperville Police Association of Chaplains will gather at 9 a.m. May 12 at the Public Safety Officers Plaza, 1350 Aurora Ave., Naperville. The service will recognize peace officers from across the nation and in DuPage County who have lost their lives in the line of duty.
Naperville hosts resource fair:
Naperville is sponsoring its fourth annual accessibility resource fair from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday, May 2, at the municipal center, 400 S. Eagle St. Roughly 50 exhibitors will showcase products and services that are of interest to people of all ages with disabilities or those who care for someone with a disability. Park district adds trees:
Fox Valley Park District will launch its "Plant 1,500 Trees" campaign Saturday at four park locations. Roughly 325 trees will be planted through the combined efforts of park district crews and more than 100 volunteers from Calvary Church of Naperville and several area Scout groups. The four Aurora parks slated to receive trees are Sutton Lake Park at Sutton Lane and Brookwood; South Spring Lake Park at McCoy Drive and Frontenac; Frontenac Park at East New York Street and Frontenac; and Barrington Lake Park at Eola and Barrington.
Roselle plans cruise nights:
Another cruise night season along Main Street in Roselle begins Friday night and runs through Sept. 25. The weekly gatherings are held 6 to 9 p.m. every Friday except Aug. 7. Parking is available for more than 150 cars, organizers said. The cruise nights, which are sponsored by 36 businesses, are free for all participants and spectators. Live bands are scheduled to perform.
