Dist. 158 board member guilty of driving without insurance

A Huntley Unit District 158 school board member was found guilty this week of driving without insurance after an unsuccessful re-election campaign in which the traffic violation became an issue.

Larry Snow, 58, was sentenced to 120 days of court supervision and four hours of traffic safety school. He must pay $429 in fines and fees.

Snow received the citation after a January accident in which Snow was hit by another car while turning left onto West Algonquin Road.

The other driver was not hurt, but Snow suffered injuries that restricted his mobility and hampered his ability to campaign.

Fellow incumbent Mike Skala beat out Snow for a 2-year seat on the board by a large margin.

During the campaign, Snow faced criticism for not answering questions about the January crash.

On Wednesday, Snow did not return a call seeking comment, and Snow's lawyer, David Gervais, declined to comment.

Snow's 4-year term ends today, when the new board will be seated.
