3rd suspect in custody in Streamwood stabbing

Police have a third man in custody who they say might be involved in Saturday's stabbing in Streamwood.

Charges have yet to be formally filed against the male adult, Streamwood Deputy Police Chief Jim Gremo said, adding the man was taken into the police station Thursday morning for questioning.

The subject could be one of three males who police said tried to murder a man late Saturday morning at a home on the 100 block of Dato Court. A victim was stabbed a half-dozen times in the chest, face and stomach. The victim remains hospitalized but is expected to recover. Authorities said the suspects wanted to take a safe from the home.

Gremo only identified the man police have in custody as an adult who is not in his teens. Police arrested two teenagers earlier this week in connection in the case.

Carmichael Nation, 18, of Evanston, and Nicholas Kastner, a 16-year-old Schaumburg High School student, both face prison sentences of six to 30 years. The pair were charged with attempted first-degree murder, armed robbery and aggravated battery. A judge on Tuesday gave them $250,000 bonds.

Kastner is being charged as an adult. He was arrested at the high school, authorities said.

The next scheduled court date for Nation and Kastner is on March 20 in Rolling Meadows.
