Historian returns with more tales about historic DuPage homes
On Sunday, Nov. 8, historian Linda Neff presents another installment of her series, “Gentlemen Farmers of DuPage and their Country Estates.”
Among the estates she will talk about is a historic home that was one of the 2022 winners in HGTV’s “Ultimate House Hunt,” and another that mysteriously burned to the ground within hours of the owner’s death.
The program, hosted by the Lisle Heritage Society, will begin at 2 p.m. at First Congregational Church, 1006 Ogden Ave. in Lisle. It is free and open to the public. For information, visit lisleheritagesociety.org.
Neff has served as a docent and researcher at Mayslake Peabody Estate, the Tudor Revival-style mansion that was the home of coal magnate Francis Stuyvesant Peabody and is now is a highlight of the Forest Preserve District of DuPage County’s Mayslake Forest Preserve.
