Schaumburg offering post-Halloween pumpkin composting

Schaumburg is partnering with Lakeshore Recycling Systems to provide an environmentally friendly way to dispose of pumpkins after Halloween.

From Tuesday, Nov. 3 through Thursday, Nov. 5, residents can drop off pumpkins for composting at either the engineering and public works department, 714 S. Plum Grove Road, or the police department, 1000 W. Schaumburg Road.

Residents should remove all non-compostable materials, including glitter, candle wax and plastic decorations. The free drop-off program has no limit on the number of pumpkins participants can bring.
