Woman fatally injured in boating crash on Fox River identified
The woman fatally injured in a boating crash Saturday on the Fox River in McHenry has been identified as Magdalena Jablonska, 48, of Des Plaines, the McHenry County Coroner’s Office said.
Jablonska was a passenger in a boat in a no-wake area near the 1800 block of South Fernwood Lane struck from behind by another boat traveling 80 miles per hour, authorities said.
She suffered catastrophic injuries when the boat was struck from behind and rode up and over, authorities said.
Preliminary findings showed blunt force injuries to her body, according to McHenry County Coroner Michael R. Rein.
Toxicology is pending and the official cause and manner of death remain under investigation, he added.
Lisle resident Richard M. Stevenson, 45, faces two counts of aggravated driving under the influence, causing death, and one count of reckless homicide. He was denied pretrial release Monday in a McHenry County court. His next court date is Aug. 5.
