Let’s get together

Chef collaboration dinners are all the rage lately, and we’ve got a couple of more coming up soon in the suburbs.

The Greggory in South Barrington continues its series by bringing in 2026 Jean Banchet Chef of the Year winner chef John Manion for a collab with chef José Sosa on Tuesday, April 28.

A master of live fire cooking, Manion is chef and owner of Chicago steakhouses El Che and Brasero. He and Sosa will present a five-course dinner exploring their shared love for fire and flavor, crafting a menu of steak, seafood and expertly paired wines.

Tickets are $250, wine pairing included, and are available at OpenTable. A portion of ticket proceeds will benefit the Aaron Sanchez Impact Foundation and its mission to uplift the lives of Latino youth through food.

Prairie Grass Cafe in Northbrook will host a one-night collaborative dinner on Wednesday, April 15, pairing founder and James Beard Award-winning chef Sarah Stegner’s seasonal Midwestern style with the traditional Cantonese artistry of chef Carol Cheung.

The dinner will be served family-style and will feature the two distinct culinary traditions in dialogue. It’s $95 per person, not including tax and gratuity, and a curated alcohol pairing can be added for $30.

Seating is limited and reservations must be made by calling (847) 205-4433.

Play with your food

Puttshack, the tech-infused indoor mini golf experience in Oak Brook and Skokie, has teed up new offerings in their restaurant and bar with more than 50 food and beverage additions to the menu.

New offerings include a birria nacho tower, grilled chicken flatbread foldover, wings with five sauce options and the signature skirted cheeseburger. A new bowl category adds dishes such as the grilled salmon bowl and spicy tuna poke bowl. For dessert, you can try the churro dippers, with $1 from every order being donated to a local charity.

From the bar, drink highlights include a pineapple express mule, the 1792 Puttshack Barrel Pick old fashioned and a spirit-free espresso martini.

A new happy hour from 3-6 p.m. offers deals such as $1 wings and $3 draft beers.
