Roselle firefighter rescued after falling through floor fighting house fire Tuesday

A Roselle firefighter was uninjured after falling through a floor while battling a house fire near Schaumburg Tuesday afternoon.

Firefighters were called to the single-family home on the 100 block of Long Avenue at about 1:40 p.m.

The initial responding crew was making entry into the smoke-filled home to attack the fire when the firefighter fell through the floor. The firefighter was immediately rescued by others and examined by paramedics on scene, who released him.

No one was home at the time of the fire, officials said. No injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
