Investigation continues into deadly plane crash at DuPage Airport

Authorities are continuing to investigate the cause of Wednesday’s fatal plane crash at DuPage Airport in West Chicago.

A National Transportation Safety Board investigator was due to examine the crash site Thursday.

Autopsies were scheduled to be performed on the two men who died when a small plane crashed after taking off around 2 p.m. at the airport in West Chicago.

According to the plane’s registration number, it belonged to Peregrine Aviation LLC, with a listed address at a house in Winfield. The plane was built in 1969.

The owner of that house appears to be the president of the International Flying Club, which is based at the airport.

According to IFC’s website, it’s a non-profit non-equity club that owns four airplanes. The airplane that crashed is not one of those listed on the website.

The airport returned to normal operations Thursday, according to a spokesman.
