Man dies after being struck by Metra train near Ingleside

A man was struck and killed by an outbound Metra train traveling between Ingleside and Fox Lake Saturday night, officials said.

The Milwaukee District North line was traveling at least 50 mph near Rollins Road at approximately 10:15 p.m. when the man was hit, officials said.

No one on the train was hurt.

The man, who has yet to be identified, was pronounced dead at Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville.

The last inbound and outbound trains were delayed about two hours, officials said. The involved train had already been experiencing a slight delay because of snow.
