Honor Flight celebrates veterans unable to fly to D.C.
Four club women from GFWC Northwest Suburban and some family members recently attended Honor Flight Chicago’s “Operation Eagles Landing: Gratitude on the Ground,” honoring veterans with a luncheon in their honor at Cantigny Park in Wheaton.
This event on Saturday, Nov. 1, was a very moving event that included veteran honorees from World War II, the Korean and Vietnam wars.
Included as an honoree was Vietnam veteran Charles Stricker who was a speaker for the club earlier this year.
This particular Honor Flight event was for American war veterans who are physically unable to join the traditional Honor Flights that transport veterans to Washington, D.C.
GFWC Northwest Suburban Woman’s Club is a member of the General Federation of Women’s Clubs. The 501(c)3 philanthropic organization supports local, state and national organizations with time and monetary donations.
