‘An exciting new chapter’: Meet Chicago Northwest touts Renaissance Schaumburg’s $30M renovation
Meet Chicago Northwest is touting the completion of the $30 million renovation of the Renaissance Schaumburg Convention Center Hotel as “an exciting new chapter for one of the region’s most iconic hospitality landmarks.”
The 19-year-old property’s transformation enhances its status as a premier destination for meetings, events, and leisure travel within the Northwest suburbs, the group said.
Meet Chicago Northwest, the region’s destination marketing organization, recognizes the renovation as a milestone for local tourism and economic development.
“The Renaissance Schaumburg Convention Center Hotel has long served as a cornerstone of the Chicago Northwest destination,” said Heather Larson, president and CEO of Meet Chicago Northwest. “This renovation reinforces our region’s reputation as a vibrant, accessible, and forward-thinking destination for meetings and leisure travelers alike.”
The Renaissance Schaumburg Convention Center Hotel, 1551 Thoreau Drive North, has reimagined its 150,000 square feet of meeting and event space. The renovation introduces a 100,000-square-foot column-free convention center, a grand 28,000-square-foot ballroom, and 28 breakout rooms designed to accommodate gatherings of every scale, according to a news release.
Renovations include energy-efficient LED lighting, new airwalls, redesigned Market Place concessions and upgraded exhibitor amenities. Every corridor and foyer features new flooring, vinyl, lighting, and furnishings. The project includes 500 fully renovated guest rooms, completed in July, offering a blend of comfort and contemporary style. Check out a 360° virtual tour of the property.
Also, a new 900-car covered parking center connected to the hotel will open Dec. 1, offering free parking for guests and event attendees.
“With this renovation, the Renaissance Schaumburg continues to raise the bar for meetings and events in Chicago’s Northwest suburbs,” said Dieter Heigl, general manager of the Renaissance Schaumburg Convention Center Hotel. “We’re thrilled to welcome guests into a refreshed environment that inspires connection, creativity, and discovery.”
Looking ahead, an 89,300-square-foot Andretti Indoor Karting & Games will open next spring in Schaumburg’s new entertainment district on the campus of the convention center. It will feature a multilevel indoor electric go-kart track as well as a restaurant, bowling alley, laser tag room, ride simulator room and a variety of games.
