Starting Friday, you’ll only have to go as far as Rosemont to be able to travel to ancient Egypt or 3.5 billion years back in time — virtually, of course. Visitors will don virtual reality glasses as they walk through EXP, the new 26,000-square-foot immersive art venue in The Pearl District south of Balmoral Avenue and west of the Tri-State Tollway.

Planned industrial buildings in Schaumburg require demolition of 19 unincorporated homes

A proposal for a pair of industrial buildings between Wintrust Field and Experior Logistics’ new trucking headquarters in southwest Schaumburg will require the demolition of all 19 houses along unincorporated Long Avenue. The Chicago-based Midwest Region of Logistics Property Company LLC has pitched Schaumburg the plan to build the two spec buildings totaling 436,500 square feet on roughly 70 acres. The company has all 25 properties under contract to buy, including the 19 homes and vacant land, some of which is owned by the village.

The Department of Government Efficiency's remaking of the federal workforce has battered the Washington job market and put more households in the metropolitan area in financial distress, according to a report released Wednesday. The number of homes for sale in the District of Columbia, Maryland and Virginia region, also known as the DMV, is up by 64% since June 2024, and the region’s unemployment rate is the highest in the nation, according to the DMV Monitor.

Cook County launches grant to support businesses ready for growth

Cook County on Thursday launched a new grant program, offering 88 established businesses in select industries a chance to receive $100,000 to fuel their growth. The Catalyst Grant is the first effort led by the Cook County Bureau of Economic Development aimed at supporting growing and established businesses throughout the county with annual sales greater than $500,000. Applications are open until 5 p.m. Oct. 31.
