Cary-Grove Masons host annual ‘Pack the Pantry’

The Cary-Grove Masonic Lodge 1157 held their annual “Pack the Pantry” event on the Saturday of Labor Day weekend. It was held at Mariano’s supermarket in Crystal Lake.

Team members with a group of Cub Scouts handed out “shopping lists” to shoppers entering the store.

The lists contain suggested food and household staples and shoppers were asked to buy an item or two and deposit them in shopping carts positioned just outside the store.

The results gathered several grocery carts filled to overflowing. There was one very generous lady that pushed out a cart that contained at least one of every item on the lists. There were also substantial cash contributions.

Everything collected was delivered to the Cary-Grove Food Pantry for sorting and redistribution to pantry recipients. Cash was given at a presentation at the Cary-Grove Masonic Lodge.
