Des Plaines woman identified as person killed in Lake County crash

Lake County authorities have identified a 33-year-old Des Plaines woman as the person killed in a three-car crash late Saturday in Lake County that injured five others.

Bogdana Mygal died from blunt-force injuries suffered in the collision, which occurred about 10:15 p.m. Saturday at West Russell and Frontage roads in Wadsworth, according to the Lake County Coroner’s Office.

Officials had initially identified Mygal as a Niles resident.

Authorities say the crash occurred when a 2020 Porsche Macan, driven westbound on Russell by a 58-year-old Addison man, rear-ended a 2016 Chevrolet Volt stopped at Frontage.

The impact sent the Chevrolet into the rear of a stopped 2020 Mercedes-Benz, driven by a 37-year-old Rolling Meadows woman.

Mygal, a passenger in the Chevrolet, was taken with critical injuries to an area hospital, where she was pronounced dead, officials said. The driver of the Chevrolet, 35-year-old man, and another passenger, a 4-year-old girl, also were hospitalized with serious injuries, according to the Lake County Sheriff’s Office.

The driver of the Mercedes-Benz, 37-year-old Rolling Meadows woman, and a passenger, a 40-year-old Schaumburg man, also were hospitalized with serious injuries, as was the driver of the Porsche, authorities said.

The sheriff’s office reported that speed and alcohol impairment may have been factors for the driver of the Porsche and criminal charges are possible.
