Police join coordinated traffic safety effort along Route 21 in Lake County
Police from several Lake County departments will be part of a coordinated traffic safety initiative across northern Illinois on Tuesday, June 17.
The regional initiative aims to reduce traffic crashes and promote safer driving behaviors through education, public awareness, and targeted enforcement. In Lake County, police from Gurnee, Libertyville, Vernon Hills, Lincolnshire, Riverwoods, and Buffalo Grove, with the Lake County Sheriff’s Office and the Illinois State Police, will focus on the Route 21 (Milwaukee Avenue) corridor.
Police will be looking for common and dangerous driving violations, including speeding and distracted driving, which are leading causes of serious and fatal crashes.
