Lake Park junior named inaugural recipient of local League’s Civic Leadership Scholarship
The League of Women Voters of Roselle-Bloomingdale Area named Nicole Angel, a junior at Lake Park High School, as the 2025 Civic Leadership Scholarship winner at the Rose Ambassador Scholarship Event, sponsored by the Roselle Arts & Culture Foundation.
This scholarship recognizes a student who demonstrates outstanding commitment to civic education, social responsibility, and active participation in democracy.
Nicole’s exceptional achievements in both academics and community service made her a standout nominee for this year’s scholarship.
The League of Women Voters of Roselle-Bloomingdale Area established the Civic Leadership Scholarship in 2025 to celebrate students who excel in their studies and embrace the core values of democracy, public service, and community engagement.
Nicole’s involvement in local civic initiatives, her passion for public policy, and her dedication to positively impacting her community have set her apart as an exceptional leader.
Her scholarship marks a historic moment for the Roselle/Bloomingdale chapter, as she is the first student to receive this honor. This milestone reflects the League’s ongoing commitment to nurturing the next generation of civic leaders.
This scholarship is particularly meaningful as the League of Women Voters continues its mission to empower voters, expand access to the ballot, and advocate for critical issues which aligns with Nicole’s dedication to civic responsibility and leadership.
Nicole’s recognition also serves as a reminder of the historical importance of voting rights in America. The passage of the 19th Amendment in 1920 granted women the right to vote, and the Voting Rights Act of 1965 ensured all Americans, regardless of race, could vote without fear or obstruction. Today, the League of Women Voters continues to uphold these principles through voter education, public engagement, and advocacy for social change.
Nicole will receive a $300 scholarship from the League of Women Voters to support her continued academic and civic pursuits.
