A high school pot dealer crashes a flight attendants’ reunion in Village Guild Theatre’s ‘Mud Blue Sky’

Village Theatre Guild in Glen Ellyn is presenting the play “Mud Blue Sky” by Marisa Wegyzyn on Jan. 17- Feb. 8. Performances will be at 7:30 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays, and 2 p.m. Sundays. There will also be a Saturday matinee at 2 p.m. Feb. 1.

“Mud Blue Sky” begins with a high school pot dealer who abandons his prom night to crash the hotel-room reunion of three flight attendants (all old enough to be his mother.) Booze flows, weed is smoked, the room blurs and futures, careers and kindness snap sharply into focus. A profoundly compassionate and fiercely witty play.

Annie Slivinski of Forest Park is the director. She feels that this intimate, humorous and heartfelt play is a perfect piece for Village Theatre Guild’s space. Themes of friendship, change and loss are winningly portrayed by a cast filled with veteran as well as new faces at Village Theatre Guild in its 61st season.

The cast of “Mud Blue Sky” includes Debbie Roberts of Lockport, Tina Shelley of Berwyn, Meredith Brasher of Schaumburg, and Octavio Montes DeOca of Elmhurst. The producer is Debi Gitz-Joseph of Wheaton with stage manager Jack T. Smith of Bloomingdale.

Tickets are available at villagetheatreguild.com/productions or by calling the box office at (630) 469-8230. Tickets are $25.

The Village Theatre Guild is located at 2S720 Park Blvd. near the northwest corner of Butterfield Road and Park Boulevard in Glen Ellyn. Free parking is available.
