ArtReach Theatre to stage ‘The Wizard of Oz’ at Cutting Hall

ArtReach Educational Theatre, in partnership with Spotlite Theatrix Production Company, will present “The Wizard of Oz” at Cutting Hall, 150 E. Wood St., Palatine.

Performances are set for 7:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 8; 2 and 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 9; and 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 10. Tickets are $22 in advance or $25 at the door. Student and senior tickets are $20. For tickets and information, visit www.cuttinghall.org.

In this classic tale, Dorothy and her dog Toto find themselves in the strange land of Oz after a cyclone hits her aunt and uncle's house in Kansas. To return home, Dorothy must follow the yellow brick road to find the famous Wizard of Oz who lives in Emerald City.

The show is directed by Dan Walsh and Jonah Parra, both of Des Plaines, with choreography by Kevin Foss of Palatine.

The cast includes: Giovanna Biasi of Mount Prospect as Dorothy, Jonah Parra of Des Plaines as the Scarecrow, Kevin Foss of Palatine as the Tin Man, Ted Rafferty of Schaumburg as the Cowardly Lion, Felicia Filip of Berwyn as Glinda, Edlyna Talla of Hanover Park as Aunt Em, Matt Ludahl of Palatine as Uncle Henry and the Guardian of the Gates, Ella Siemiazko of Palatine as the Wicked Witch, and David Kinnard of Elk Grove Village as Professor Marvel and The Wizard.

The mission of ArtReach Educational Theatre is to expose children to all aspects of theater, music and dance. It accepts any child age 5 through high school — from beginning to advanced performing levels — with a genuine interest in the arts. They offer private voice lessons, dance and acting classes, advanced musical theater workshops and summer arts camp programs in Palatine.
