Dining out: Eat wings to win Bears tickets, new restaurant openings and more
The Chicago Bears will play division rival Detroit on Thanksgiving Day and Wing Snob is giving away tickets. There’s also new restaurants in Rosemont and Bolingbrook, and it’s stone crab season.
Go wings, go Bears
The Chicago Bears will take part in the annual Thanksgiving NFL game at Detroit on Thursday, Nov. 28, this year and Wing Snob is giving guests a chance to go see them.
From now until Saturday, Nov. 23, every online order placed at wingsnob.com/ will count as an entry in a drawing that will take place Sunday, Nov. 24. Two winners will be selected and each will get two tickets to see the Bears battle the Lions in Detroit. And while others are eating stuffing at home, the winners will get to stuff their faces with free, unlimited wings from Wing Snob’s new Ford Field location.
There are suburban Wing Snob locations in Elgin, Libertyville and Mount Prospect.
New restaurant part one
It will soon be taco time in Rosemont as Fat Rosie’s Taco & Tequila Bar will open on Wednesday, Oct. 30, in Parkway Bank Park, taking over the space once occupied by Park Tavern, 5433 Park Place.
It’s the fifth suburban location for Fat Rosie’s and their vast selection of tacos, tequila and more. The food menu highlights dishes from across Mexico, while the drink menu includes more than 50 tequilas and more than a dozen made-from-scratch flavored margaritas.
The new location will feature two bar areas and offer live entertainment every weekend. DJs will spin from 9 p.m. to midnight Fridays and Saturdays and authentic Mariachi performances will take place from 8-10 p.m. Saturdays.
The Mas Mex Restaurant Group offering will be open for lunch and dinner daily and joins suburban locations in Naperville, Schaumburg, Lincolnshire and Lincolnwood.
New restaurant part two
Local chicken chain Fry the Coop will open its new Bolingbrook location with a ribbon-cutting celebration at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 29, with One Armed DJ. The first 250 people will receive Opening Day T-shirts. Known for Nashville-style hot chicken in spice levels from none to insanity, Fry the Coop’s new restaurant at 274 S. Weber Road will be its ninth location in the area.
The restaurant will celebrate National Sandwich Day on Sunday, Nov. 3, with the Biscoff Donut Chicken Sandwich for $5. The one-day-only sandwich is a collab with Stan’s Donuts and features a Biscoff doughnut, whipped cinnamon maple sugar butter and Fry the Coop’s fried chicken.
The claw
Stone crab lovers, it’s Florida stone crab season again and Truluck’s Ocean’s Finest Seafood and Crab has been serving up those little jewels for more than 30 years.
The crabs are only in season from mid-October until May 1. Truluck’s works with a third-generation team of crabbing professionals in South Florida who capture the crabs daily. Only one claw is harvested, preserving the life of the crab. The claws are immediately cooked and packed in ice and then put on a plane to Truluck’s locations within hours. The market price claws are served chilled and pre-cracked in three sizes with a specialty mustard.
