Lakemoor man charged with drug-induced homicide

A Lakemoor man has been charged with drug-induced homicide in the February death of a 23-year-old woman near Spring Grove.

Marcus Lejsner, 22, of the 400 block of South Highland Drive, was taken into custody Tuesday at his home, according to a news release from the Lake County sheriff’s office.

On the morning of Feb. 9, deputies responded to a report of an unresponsive person at a home on the 38100 block of North State Park Road. When they arrived, they found a woman who was unconscious and not breathing; she was taken to a hospital in McHenry County where she died, authorities said.

Police said the woman died of an overdose after being given a lethal combination of drugs by her friend, Lejsner. According to the release, both ingested drugs and fell asleep. Lejsner woke and found the woman unresponsive but left without seeking help, authorities said.

The victim's family discovered her shortly after and called 911. As the death occurred in McHenry County, Lake County detectives worked closely with the McHenry County state’s attorney’s office, which approved the drug-induced homicide charge, authorities said.

Lejsner was scheduled to appear for an initial hearing Wednesday in McHenry County court.
