‘A fantastic addition’: Fresh Market grocery store coming to Yorktown mall
Yorktown Center will add a grocery store to its roster of new restaurants and nontraditional tenants as part of a larger redevelopment of the shopping mall in Lombard. The vacant Carson’s department store soon will be demolished to make way for “The Square,” a communal outdoor space. A Fresh Market grocery store is expected to open next year.
Seefried Industrial Properties moves ahead with new spec building in Mount Prospect
Mount Prospect officials joined Seefried Industrial Properties last week to break ground on a new spec industrial building at 1305 E. Algonquin Road, in the south end of the village. The more than 40-year-old Atlanta-based real estate firm plans to spend about $10.7 million to demolish an existing 32,000-square-foot building on the roughly 13-acre site and erect a new 191,000-square-foot warehouse distribution facility.
African grocer eyes Palatine location at former vape shop
An African grocery store plans to move into to the Fleetwood Center shopping mall in Palatine. The planning and zoning commission on Tuesday recommended the village board approve Debjos African Food LLC’s request to move into a space at 401 N. Northwest Highway.

Giostra by Fabio Viviani will begin welcoming guests to its location in The Arboretum on Oct. 14, promising an authentic Italian dining experience that blends the culinary traditions of Viviani’s childhood with fresh, locally sourced ingredients.
Bears CEO says lakefront ‘best’ stadium site, but leaves door open for Arlington Heights
While maintaining that downtown Chicago is the “best” site for a new Bears stadium, team President and CEO Kevin Warren said Wednesday architects are designing a venue that is “agnostic” to location, including Arlington Heights. It will “create an environment for our fans to really enjoy the Chicago Bears, and to be able to attract” mega events like the Super Bowl, Final Four, College Football Playoffs and concerts, Warren said.
Education and Work Center in Hanover Park celebrates a decade of service to community
The innovative Education and Work Center in Hanover Park, a collaborative effort among local governments and the state, marked its 10th anniversary with a special event Thursday. The partnership of Elgin Community College, Harper College, and the village of Hanover Park, along with critical support from the state, has helped build the English and work skills of community residents as well as providing them job-search assistance.
