Roselle’s Public Safety Open House returns Sept. 22
On Sunday, Sept. 22, Roselle will host its annual Public Safety Open House from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the police and fire departments on Prospect Street.
The free, family-friendly event complete with live demonstrations, kids activities, and Touch-a-Truck with trucks from Roselle Public Works, emergency vehicles from Roselle police and fire departments, as well as vehicles from local public safety organizations like the DuPage County Sheriff’s Office.
“People don’t always realize that public works personnel are first responders alongside police and fire,” said Roselle Public Works Director Karen Young. “We always look forward to connecting with residents at Public Safety Open House so they can see firsthand all the teamwork that goes into keeping our community safe.”
Attendees will see public safety in action during live demonstrations like a drone flight, search & rescue K-9, vehicle extrication, and a live burn. Children can participate in the Junior Police Academy and test their firefighter skills in the Kids Combat Challenge to see what it’s like to be a first responder.
“After the success of last year’s event, we’re so excited to welcome everyone back to our facilities to check out all the services public safety provides,” said Roselle Police Department Community Resource Coordinator Maria Reyes. “We hope kids and adults alike will get to know their local first responders and walk away with a deeper understanding of how we work to protect our community.”
The Roselle municipal campus is located on Prospect Street between Main Street and Maple Avenue. It will be held rain or shine. For more information about Public Safety Open House, visit www.roselle.il.us/913/Public-Safety-Open-House or contact the Roselle Fire Department at (630) 980-2043.
