Arlington Heights composer wins Green Bay Packers song contest

Composer Rob Rasch of Arlington Heights has won a milwaukeerecord.com poll, The Best Packers Song Ever Written. The victory was announced on Friday, Sept. 6.

The song titled, “O Ya, O Ya O Hey,” is a lighthearted polka describing and celebrating the experience of tailgating at Green Bay’s Lambeau Field.

Rasch’s song and video emerged victorious in the tournament from 64 entries.

Chicago White Sox legend, organist Nancy Faust, performs the accordion on the piece which was composed in 1999, with lyrics by Jon Role.

Rob Rasch, a resident of Arlington Heights since 2016, has been a composer and performer for over 40 years, composing in a wide variety of genres, from jazz to country to punk rock. He even composed a fight song for the Chicago Bulls. Mostly a jazz performer, he performs regularly on solo piano at Von Maur in Glenview, on Fridays.
