Lisle Heritage Society to host 40th annual ‘Depot Days’

On Sept. 14-15, Lisle Depot Days will be brimming with activities and demonstrations that entertain and educate visitors of all ages about local history.

The annual event, presented by the Lisle Heritage Society in partnership with the Lisle Park District, will be noon to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at the Museums at Lisle Station Park, 921 School St. Admission is free. Food and refreshments available.

There truly will be something for everyone!

See demonstrations on blacksmithing, high wheel bicycles, straw baling, log sawing, wood-turning, leather working, beekeeping, and “Baking in the Beehive Oven.”

The DuPage Amateur Radio Club will be operating a station at the event. They will be on the air between noon and 5 p.m. Modes will include phone (SSB), CW, and digital on 40 and 20 meters.

Other attractions include: games, antique tractor and cars, petting farm, wagon rides and hand-led pony rides, HO Gauge Model Railroad, and more.

Participants also can learn about the railway’s Operation Lifesaver and the “Evolution of Telephones” exhibit.
