Wheaton Garden Club announces philanthropy recipients

Wheaton Garden Club recently announced its philanthropy recipients for 2024.

The scholarship winner is Grace Weber who is pursuing an associate’s degree in science with a major in biology at the College of DuPage. She then plans to attend a four-year university to work toward a bachelor’s degree in environmental studies.

A financial donation was made to We Grow Dreams to help with replacing raised garden beds and making structural repairs to their retail center.

We Grow Dreams is a nursery and greenhouse in West Chicago, which has been providing job training and employment to young adults with disabilities for over 16 years.

A beautification donation was also made to the Midwest Shelter for Homeless Veterans to landscape a seating bench area at one of their housing buildings. The Wheaton nonprofit provides services to help homeless and at risk veterans and their families achieve self-sufficiency.

Past philanthropic donations have been given to Cosley Zoo, Willowbrook Wildlife Center, and the Illinois Prairie Path.
