Suburban restaurants offer Passover options for dine-in and takeout

Passover begins at sunset on Monday, so now is the time to finalize your holiday dining plans at a suburban restaurant or order your to-go packages. Here are some we found to get you started:

Di Pescara’s family-style Passover dinner will be available for dine-in or carryout Monday and Tuesday, April 22-23, for $56.95 for adults and $29.95 for kids 10 and younger. Dinner includes matzo, matzo ball soup, gefilte fish, beef chopped liver, Spring chop salad, braised beef brisket with caramelized onions, roasted Atlantic salmon, potato pancakes, mashed potatoes, roasted heirloom carrots, macaroons and flourless chocolate cake. Place carryout orders by Thursday, April 18, for pickup between 11:30 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday and Tuesday, April 22-23.

The Grill House

Passover catering options include sliced brisket (starting at $65), roasted chicken ($26), oven-roasted potatoes ($25), green bean almondine ($30), potato latkes ($20), matzo balls ($20), grilled Atlantic salmon ($18), whitefish ($21) and more.

Johnny’s Kitchen & Tap

Johnny's special Passover dinner includes a choice of half wood-roasted chicken ($26.95), cedar plank salmon ($34.95), Johnny's smoked brisket ($32.95) or broiled Greek-style cod ($28.95). Each comes with chopped liver, matzo, chicken soup or salad, mashed potatoes and asparagus. Dessert includes hot fudge sundae, cheesecake or homemade rice pudding. It's available after 4 p.m. Monday, April 22, and all day Tuesday, April 23, for dine-in or carryout. The regular menu will be available.

L. Woods Tap & Pine Lodge

Woods for a special Passover dinner menu, including family-style starters like Suzy Friedman’s vegetarian chopped liver, housemade chopped liver, gefilte fish and matzo ball soup, followed by a choice of rosemary brown butter chicken, beef brisket or potato-crusted Lake Superior whitefish (per person). The meal comes with honey-glazed carrots, green beans and potato pancakes. Each guest can choose either lemon cheesecake or flourless chocolate cake for dessert. The dinner, which costs $51.95, is available for dine-in from 4-8:30 p.m. Monday and Tuesday, April 22-23. Passover dinner to-go is $51.95 per person. All items are served cold with reheating instructions.

Max and Benny’s

461 Waukegan Road, Northbrook, (847) 272-9490, maxandbennys.com. Seatings are available between 5 and 7 p.m. Monday and Tuesday, April 22-23, by reservation only. The Passover Seder features a family-style menu of matzo ball soup, chopped liver and gefilte fish, brisket au jus and roast chicken, tsimmes, matzo kugel, Passover desserts and matzo. It’s $39 for adults and $19 for kids younger than 10. Or order to-go packages for four ($129) or eight ($229) that include a choice of lean brisket au jus, roasted half chicken or a brisket/chicken combo, plus matzo, matzo kugel, matzo balls, chicken broth, chicken pieces with carrots and celery, and a choice of sweet and sour meatballs or chopped liver, carrot tsimmes and oven-browned potatoes. Orders must be place by Friday, April 19.

Or order the Passover Dinner Package for Two to-go that includes matzo ball soup, matzo, mixed green salad, slow-braised barbecue brisket, cauliflower mash, roasted carrots and apple kugel for $130. Add on a half pint of chicken liver for $12 and a slice of flourless chocolate cake for $12. Order by Friday, April 19, for pickup between 4 and 5:30 p.m. Monday, April 22.

The $56.95 per person menu includes matzo ball soup, gefilte fish with beet horseradish, braised beef brisket with caramelized onions, potato pancakes and more. The same menu will be available for carryout. Order by 5 p.m. Friday, April 19, for carryout on Monday and Tuesday, April 22-23.

Wildfire

Passover specials will be available after 3 p.m. Monday, April 22, and all day Tuesday, April 23, for dine-in and carryout at the Glenview and Lincolnshire locations. A la carte specials include matzo ball soup, braised brisket of beef, matzo-crusted halibut, potato kugel and chocolate almond macaroons. Family platters featuring appetizers, main course and dessert in half and full portions will be available for carryout.
