Local P.E.O. chapter enjoys, shares holiday spirit

Twenty-four members of Chapter P-LK of the P.E.O. (Philanthropic Education Organization) Sisterhood gathered in the spirit of the holiday season and passed a "Santa sock" to benefit a Schaumburg resident who is experiencing ongoing physical and financial insecurities.

The group filled the stocking with $366, which will be presented to the chapter's recipient of the Illinois P.E.O. Lulu Corkhill Williams Friendship Fund. The Lulu Fund offers temporary financial assistance to individuals 18 or older (male or female), facing a variety of emergencies, such as medical bills.

Members celebrated with shared appetizers and desserts and played games arranged by social committee members Sarah Calderwood, Mary Hengels, Missy Melissa Ramoley, Connie Claybough, MaryJo Vetter and Sally Hedenberg.

The P.E.O. Sisterhood brings together approximately 225,000 women in the United States and Canada, who are passionate about helping women advance through education. The organization provides a framework of support and community for all members and is open to women age 18 or older.
