Experience the holidays by candlelight at Durant-Peterson House Dec. 2-3

Enjoy holiday music, the aroma of fresh-cut evergreens, and the warmth of a crackling fire during "Candlelight at the Durant-Peterson House Museum."

Built in 1843, the Durant-Peterson House Museum will be open from 3 to 7 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday, Dec. 2-3. It will be lit only by candlelight and oil lamps.

The museum is located in LeRoy Oakes Forest Preserve, 37W700 Dean St., just west of Randall Road in St. Charles.

Outside, visitors can stay warm by a fire.

The nearby Sholes School, built in 1872, will also be open with students performing a Christmas program.

Tickets, which include both museums, are $5 or $1 for children under age 18.

Entry to this event will be timed at half-hour intervals. Your ticket includes a visit to Sholes School, either before or after visiting Durant-Peterson House.

Parking for the museum is located about three-quarters of a mile inside the LeRoy Oakes Forest Preserve.
