ECC Theatre Department presents Lauren Gunderson's 'I and You' Nov. 10-19

The Elgin Community College theater department's production of "I and You" by Lauren Gunderson will open on Friday, Nov. 10. It is directed by Susan A. Robinson, co-coordinator and associate professor in the ECC Theatre Department.

"This story is about two teenagers who are brought together to do an English project on Walt Whitman," Robinson said. "As they get to know one another, we discover the play is about so much more. It is a funny, sad, and beautifully written two-person play about life and death and how our connection makes it all worthwhile."

Charming, mysterious, and poetic in the truest sense of the word, Lauren Gunderson's "I and You" is a study of the beauty, agony, and mystery of human connection.

Rich with poetic theatricality intertwined with simple human truth, the play finds high school students Caroline and Anthony suddenly forced together when Anthony shows up in Caroline's bedroom unexpectedly, apparently to work on an English project that, to Caroline's surprise, is due the next day.

"I and You" is a haunting, shocking music box of a play about youth, poetry, hope, heart, and the connections between us all.

Performances will be at 7:30 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays, and 3 p.m. Sundays, Nov. 10-19, in the Spartan Theatre on ECC's campus, 1700 Spartan Drive, Elgin.

Tickets are $14, $12 for seniors and youth, or free for ECC students. All orders will be subject to a $5 fee.

Tickets can be purchased online at eccartscenter.org/tickets or by calling the ECC Arts Center Box Office at (847) 622-0300.
