Local Legends featured with the Arlington Heights Community Concert Band
The Arlington Heights Community Concert Band presents 'Local Legends" at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 15, in the Forest View Educational Center Theater, at 2121 S. Goebbert Road, Arlington Heights. The concert features music composed and played by members from our community plus music that defines the Chicago area and Illinois.
Scott Ostrander, formally from Mount Prospect, composes music for piano, brass, string ensembles and concert bands. The band will perform his original composition, "Maverick March." He says that marches are very American.
Kayman Klaas plays clarinet in the band, is a music teacher and also and independent composer. He "creates music for the world to enjoy." He has composed music for "Good Morning America" and more. The band will play is original composition, "Two American Melodies."
Keith Miller lives in Wheeling. He is an accomplished pianist and has accompanied many students in solo and ensemble contests for school districts in the North and Northwest suburbs. The band will accompany him as he plays "Warsaw Concerto" for piano and concert band.
Forrest L. Buchtel Sr., is one of the most prolific writers of school band music. The band will play his composition the "Overture Dublin Holiday." The local connection is his son plays euphonium in the band.
