Lawrence honored by Waukegan American Legion Auxiliary

George Lawrence, past owner of Bertrand's Bowling in Waukegan, was honored at a special September meeting of the Waukegan American Legion Auxiliary Unit 281. Lawrence received certificates of appreciation for his support of Waukegan's American Legion Auxiliary Unit 281 and American Legion Post 281.

The Waukegan Legion Family continues to hold their monthly meetings at Bertrand's - compliments of Lawrence. In addition, a bowling tournament for military veterans from four Veterans Medical/Health Care Centers (James A. Lovell, Jesse Brown, Hines, and Milwaukee VAs/Health Care Centers) is held annually in November at Bertrand's (except during those COVID years). Lawrence worked with the Waukegan Legion Auxiliary to make these tournaments a memorable experience for our veterans.

At the September meeting Lawrence was presented with gifts and certificates of appreciation from both the Legion and Legion Auxiliary. A specially decorated cake and desserts were served afterward.

Post 281 Commander Duane Peacy and several Legionaries also attended.
