Glenbrook North graduate inducted into Dubuque Athletic Hall of Fame

Alexandra (Watkins) Zurbuchen, a 2010 Glenbrook North High School graduate, was inducted into the University of Dubuque Athletic Hall of Fame Sept. 9 in Iowa.

Zurbuchen, who now lives in Glenview and is married with a young son, ranks in the top-10 in Dubuque women's soccer in eight different categories.

A forward and midfielder, Zurbuchen was the University of Dubuque's 2014 female athlete of the year.

A member of the Spartans women's soccer team from 2010-13, she earned three first-team all-conference selections and one second-team pick in the Iowa Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (now the American Rivers Conference).

Zurbuchen was a five-time IIAC performer of the week and in September 2010 was the IIAC's female athlete of the week. As a freshman she led the conference in goals, points and game-winning goals.

Third-team all-region in 2012, Zurbuchen finished her Dubuque career ranked fourth in career goals (45), sixth in assists (20) and third in game-winning goals (12).

She graduated from Dubuque in 2014 with a bachelor's degree in communication, and returned to earn a master's degree in business administration in 2017.
