Vernon Township Hosts Fall Shredding Event

Vernon Township has partnered with Opportunity Secure Data Destruction for a Fall Shred Day on Monday, September 18 from 11:30 a.m. - 2:30 p.m. at the Vernon Township Administration Building, located at 3050 N. Main Street in Buffalo Grove. This event is free and open to all Vernon Township residents.

This event provides an opportunity for residents to securely dispose of a variety of unwanted documents - including bills, unused/canceled checks, old insurance policies, medical records, invoices, and others that are confidential in nature. Residents are limited to disposing of three medium sized boxes or bags, per person.

"We're proud to be able to offer our residents a no-cost, and safe way to destroy documents that are confidential and/or contain sensitive information," said Vernon Township Supervisor Jonathan Altenberg. "We invite everyone who lives in the township to take advantage of this opportunity."

All paper to be shredded must be dry, and plastic spines and covers, along with metal clips and binders, must be removed from all documents. Items that will not be accepted include photos, magazines (and other non-paper items), and anything that contains plastic and/or metal.

Opportunity Secure Data Destruction is AAA certified by the National Association for Information Destruction, for paper and non-paper media destruction and mobile shredding. The company also ensures that their shredding methods are environmentally safe.

For any questions, please call Tracy at the township at (847) 634-4600.
