Back to School PBL Inspired 8th Grade Assembly at Grass Lake School

Grass Lake School's 8th grade returned to school with a challenge right out of the shoot- create an assembly for the whole school that would emphasize the core values of being a "GLS Brave"and be fun! Mission accomplished!

Three days later, the entire school gathered to be led by the 8th graders in a team relay involving students and staff to gather and collate the school goals of being safe, respectful, responsible and brave.

There was much cheering, scooters wildly lurching across the polished gym floor and balloon busting! The 8th grade leaders had an engaging event that reflected the core components of a PBL (Project Based Learning ) activity beginning with a challenging problem, an authentic need, allowing for student voice and choice, a public product and time for reflection for possible future events. Nothing says kids matter like putting them in charge of their own learning- fantastic start to the 2023-24 school year- GO Braves!
