Healthy and informative
An annual event, the Village of Glenview's Environment and Natural Resources Commission will hold its Green Infrastructure Bike Tour at 10 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 27.
The 8.6-mile round-trip ride will tour sites where naturalized shoreline stabilization and other "green" infrastructure practices are improving water quality in the West Fork of the North Branch of the Chicago River.
Helmets are required to participate, and water is advised. Riders will meet in downtown Glenview just west of the Jimmy John's restaurant near Waukegan Road by the Riverwalk.
To register, email Glenview Natural Resources Manager Robyn Flakne at rflakne@glenview.il.us.
Cleaning up
At the Northbrook Farmers Market's 14th Summer Stock Day on Aug. 2, market patrons filled up a pickup truck with donated household cleaning supplies and personal hygiene products for the Northfield Township Food Pantry.
According to the market, a "generous" amount of cash also was donated for the food pantry.
The market continues each Wednesday, 7 a.m.-1 p.m., at the Meadow Plaza parking lot, through Oct. 11. Upcoming "Community Table" partners include Northfield Community Church/CROP Walk on Aug. 30, the Northbrook Historical Society on Sept. 6, and CATCH on Sept. 13.
Everyone loves trivia
The Village of Northbrook presents "Trivia Night at the Pop Up Patch" from 6:30-7:30 p.m. Wednesdays through Sept. 27 at 1200 Meadow Road, the southwest corner of Cherry Lane and Meadow Road.
Individuals or teams of up to six players will compete for a $25 gift card from a local restaurant each week. Every Wednesday a different restaurant will have a special offer on a meal or a treat.
People are encouraged to bring their own blankets or chairs. In event of rain, trivia night will be canceled.
