North Suburban YMCA raises $61K at golf outing

Under the blue skies of perfect weather, more than 135 golfers, 25 volunteers, and 50 sponsors participated in the North Suburban YMCA's third annual Community Strong Golf Fundraiser and Patio Party July 13 at Chevy Chase Country Club in Wheeling.

The sold-out event raised more than $61,000 to close the gap in the YMCA's Community Strong campaign, which helps more than 2,600 families a year. All funds raised go back into the financial assistance scholarships and support its operations and community programs. The Community Strong effort raises about half of the funds needed to support the charitable work of the Y.

"We could not be more pleased with the results of this year's golf fundraiser. Having so many people support this event is humbling, and it shows us that they not only want to support our efforts, but truly love our golf outing, an event we are very proud of," said Kathy Fielding, NSYMCA CEO.

"The money raised at this event helps close the gap of the over $500,000 that we need to raise every year for our financial assistance program."

"We are grateful for the outpouring of support, with over 50 sponsors this year and a contribution from Allstate. Events like this are not possible without the support of local businesses that sponsor, donate prizes, or volunteer their time. We are very lucky to be in a community that cares about what we do."
