MAC to present poetry and storytelling showcase

The Mundelein Arts Commission will present a poetry and storytelling showcase from 1-3 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 13, at the new outdoor gathering space by the Mundelein Mural, 22 E. Park St., in Mundelein.

There are limited slots available for spoken word performers, so event coordinator Jeff Justman encourages interested readers to sign up at jjustman@email.mundelein.org as early as possible.

All ages are welcome and invited to read their original poetry or stories. Audiences are encouraged to bring a chair. In addition, audiences may purchase food or beverages from area businesses. In case of rain, the event will be canceled.

The showcase is an ongoing free event sponsored by the Mundelein Arts Commission.

"With the past events being necessarily held on Zoom, it feels great to be able to once again perform in public, whether inside or in the open air," said a MAC spokesperson.

"It's the chance for people to have their writing heard and appreciated by an audience, the kind of collaborative arts event MAC enjoys presenting."
