Little City in Palatine hosts game Tuesday to celebrate newly renovated softball field

Little City will mark the opening of a newly renovated softball field on its Palatine campus Tuesday with a game played by its Special Olympics softball team.

Little City's Special Olympics softball team will take the new field at 7 p.m. in front of agency leaders, staff, donors and friends. The public is invited to come out and watch this special game at the Palatine campus, 1760 W. Algonquin Road, and cheer on Little City's Special Olympians while enjoying food and refreshments.

"There is no better way to bring our community together than with a ballgame played by our fantastic Special Olympics athletes," Little City CEO Marie Newman said in an announcement of the event. "It is a great way for the community to see what their support provides people with developmental disabilities and the importance of keeping these recreational programs available for those we serve."

The new field is courtesy of Midwest Field Solutions, which donated time and material to create this modern field in just three days.

Little City's recreation programs help hundreds of adults and children with developmental disabilities have access to vital activities that help their physical health, social skills and emotional well-being. It also provides opportunities for competition through its Special Olympics program, which won 18 medals at the Illinois Special Olympics Summer Games.
