Hanover Township recognized for financial reporting excellence

Hanover Township has received the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting (CAFR) from the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States (GFOA) for its comprehensive annual financial report for Fiscal Year 2022. The Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting.

This is the 11th consecutive year the Township has received this recognition.

"Each year the officials and staff spend a significant amount of time in preparing our comprehensive financial report with our auditor to present the highest quality of financial records to the residents and this award reflects that hard work," said Brian P. McGuire, Hanover Township supervisor.

According to the GFOA, the CAFR Program began in 1945, to encourage and assist state and local governments to go beyond the minimum requirements of generally accepted accounting principles to prepare comprehensive annual financial reports that evidence the spirit of transparency and full disclosure and then to recognize individual governments that succeed in achieving that goal.

The Government Finance Officers Association is a nonprofit professional association serving over 20,000 government finance professionals throughout North America.
