The Venue to host all-star Beatles tribute on June 2

The Venue will be celebrating its fourth anniversary of bringing live music to the Aurora area with a double album cover Beatles tribute show on Friday, June 2.

The ticketed, outdoor concert in adjacent Mundy Park will feature two headlining acts, along with artisan and food vendors, and some surprises in store for their Fab Fourth Birthday Bash.

Phil Angotti and Friends will kick off the celebration with a performance of "A Hard Day's Night" in its entirety.

Angotti, one of Chicago's leading Beatles experts, is known for his legendary performances. Joining him will be Tom Ryan, Blair Holmes, and Casey McDonough from The Flat Five and NRBQ.

"It's a salute to our wonderful patrons and the dedicated volunteers who have kept us afloat through thick and thin over the last four years," said Melissa Mercado, executive director of Fox Valley Music Foundation, the nonprofit behind The Venue, located at 21 S. Broadway in downtown Aurora.

The "Get Back" sessions will follow "A Hard Day's Night." It will be performed by Scott Tipping's visiting Album Covers crew which will include Scott Stevenson, Chad Watson, Justin O'Connell, and Adam Gardner. Rachel Drew and Rob Newhouse will also join in on the fun.

With the recent release of the "Get Back" series by Peter Jackson, Tipping said it's timely.

"The Beatles genre is so varied. It will be super fun to get into it a bit, and add a few surprises," said Tipping, a notable musician who also serves as The Venue's music director and talent buyer.

Mercado said celebrating four years with the Fab Four is especially meaningful due to The Venue surviving the pandemic. The concert is something that Mercado has hoped to do since before The Venue opened its doors in 2019. "Everyone has really "come together," and we do "get by with a little help from our friends," she said.
