Northbrook Park District's Free Kids' Fishing Derby is back May 20

Northbrook Park District is excited to host the annual free Kids' Fishing Derby on Saturday, May 20 from 10am-noon at Lake Shermerville inside Wood Oaks Green Park, 1150 Sanders Road.

Grab your fishing rod and join us for this classic outdoor event. Additional poles will be available for event use on a first-come, first-served basis and free bait will be provided. Prizes will be awarded for the largest fish, smallest fish, and most fish caught in several age ranges.

Registration for the event will be available on-site only; fishing licenses are not needed for participants under 16 years old. Goody bags including free coupons for Lou Malnati's and Culver's Northbrook will be provided to the first 150 registered children. GoGoSqueez is providing a free snack and a free prize drawing will be held.

This community family event has been offered by Northbrook Park District for over 20 years. According to Recreation Supervisor Mary Mucci, "Kids should look forward to disconnecting from screens and technology, spending time outdoors, fishing with friends and family, enjoying shaved ice from Kona Ice, and the chance to win some prizes!"

Volunteers from the Isaak Walton League will once again be on hand to assist participants at the event. Their mission is to conserve, restore and promote the sustainable use and enjoyment of our natural resources, including soil, air, woods, waters and wildlife.
