Palatine Jaycees now accepting community grant applications
The Palatine Jaycees are now accepting grant and partnership requests to benefit Palatine community organizations.
Each year, the Palatine Jaycees use the profits from its previous year's Hometown Fest to support the Palatine community, not only through community events, but through direct grants to organizations helping people in need.
The Jaycees are seeking applications from local nonprofit organizations that serve Palatine residents for its Community Grants Partnership Program. Interested organizations can submit applications at palatinejaycees.org/community-grants.
"We are always honored to have the opportunity to continue to support this fantastic community," said Casey Siani, project co-chair. "Every little bit helps not only the organizations that receive the grants, but the Palatine area as a whole. With the community grants being funded from the proceeds of the Hometown Fest, it's amazing to see this cycle that has been created for the community to thrive in more ways than one."
Grant applications are due July 14, with recipient organizations being notified on or before Sept. 1.
Some of the previous organizations that have received a portion of the annual grant money are: JOURNEYS | The Road Home; Escorted Transportation Services Northwest; St. Joseph's Home, Little Sisters of the Poor; Mission: MathMinds; and Partners for Our Communities.
The Jaycees have again approved up to $20,000 in grant money for 2023 after another successful Hometown Fest in 2022.
"We are grateful that the residents, organizations and businesses of Palatine continue to support our endeavors and that we are able to raise these funds annually in order to give back to these nonprofits that do so much for the greater Palatine community," said Sarah McKillop, project co-chair.
A committee of Jaycee members will decide on the fund allocation this year based on internal criteria. Last year, the committee reviewed more than 20 applications, and this year they hope to see just as many.
The Palatine Jaycees provide individuals between the age of 21 and 40 the opportunity to develop personal and leadership skills while serving the community. The Palatine Jaycees hold its monthly, general meeting at 7:30 p.m. on the third Thursday of the month at Arlington Lanes in Arlington Heights.
